The Mesquite Springs Campground is a relatively good dark sky site for the Northeastern skies. This is a very comfortable site for non-summer viewing.

The campsites are are not reservable. Fees are paid at a machine in the campground, and the rangers are very prompt at checking for proper registration.

The restrooms have flush toilets and sinks. Campsites have tables and fire pits with grills. Otherwise, it is fairly wilderness camping. There are shops in Stovepipe Wells (30 miles south, then 10 miles west) or Furnace Creek (40 miles south) where basic supplies can be found.

If you do not plan to camp, this is not really the place for you. There are hotels in Stovepipe Wells, Furnace Creek, and Panamint, but the 40 to 60 mile trip (one way) makes for a long night.

To get to the Mesquite Springs Campground:

From the southern part of Las Vegas, it may be easier to travel South on I15. Take 160 (Blue Diamond Road) West to Pahrump. In the north part of Pahrump, take a left onto West Bell Vista Ave. This will become Ash Meadows Road, then it joins Stateline road. At Death Valley Junction, follow highway 190 into Death Valley. Hwy 190 will eventually turn west to Stovepipe Wells, you should continue north on the "North Highway" towards Scotty's Castle. Continue North until you reach the Mesquite Springs Campground.

From the north part of Las Vegas, take highway 95 north to Beatty, and follow the signs across the mountains into Death valley. Turn right at the end of the road and continue North to find the campground.
