The Echo Bay Observing Site is a relatively good dark sky site for the Northeastern skies. This is a very comfortable site for fall and winter viewing. Being so close to the lake it tends to be much cooler than the surrounding desert and windier.

To get to the Echo Bay Observing Site, travel East on either Lake Mead Boulevard (Highway 147) or Lake Meade Drive (Highway 564) and follow the signs for Logandale / Overton / Echo Bay to get to North Shore Road Northeast to the Echo Bay turnoff. Echo Bay can also be reached by taking Interstate 15 North to the Logandale / Overton exit, then South on Highways 169 and 167 to the Echo Bay turnoff. At about 1 mile you will see a very small brown and white sign with an airplane and arrow to the right on it. Take this winding dirt road to the runway. Please dim you lights when you get to the flats. Normally the club will set up on the right side of the runway.

2.     Click on the bottom map at the right and you will be taken to the TopoZone.com Map website where you can pick your own scale of map and scroll around to the location you need.

3.     Click here to get the map in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. From there you can print it out from the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat Reader you may download it on our Archive page.

Remember when visiting Echo Bay Observing Site, members may not be present due to changes in weather. Please don't use white lights, and use red lights sparingly. Make sure you drive slowly to avoid stirring up dust. Most of all come out and have fun with the other observers!
